Supporting young musicians
RMVC’s aim is to encourage participation by young people in our concerts.
At RMVC we know the sheer joy of singing and performing. We have experienced the excitement and adrenalin rush that comes from applause and a job sometimes so well done it brings an audience to its feet. We also understand the process of challenging and stretching ourselves to do better and better at each performance. The Choir is both inspired and motivated by these feelings. This is why we want to play our part in helping as many young people as we can to be similarly inspired and motivated.
For a number of years RMVC has offered young singers and musicians of all kinds opportunities to perform at concerts staged by the Choir, and to play or sing to audiences wider than family, teachers and friends. So successful has this been that we are now keen to extend the chance to more schools or music groups in the local area, working in collaboration with Heads of Music and others.
- Young people gain confidence in showcasing their talent
- They surprise and delight audiences
- They experience working alongside older generations in the Choir
- Hear, and we hope enjoy, male voice singing perhaps for the first time
- Have the satisfaction of helping to raise money for good causes
- And give schools’ music departments profile and publicity
Few of us are talented enough to make music our career, but whether or not the young people we work with have that vision and potential, RMVC believes the enjoyment of singing or playing and performing can be for life.
We'd love to hear from you
